Tiina Koppinen: Growth starts with strong local companies

As CEO of Nimlas Finland, my key priority is to make sure the Nimlas engine runs smoothly across the country.

Our business is performing exceptionally well. Our larger projects are performing according to plan and services are picking up again after a slower year. We have strengthened our teams through several key recruitments and continue to improve our tools and ways of working step by step.

Focus right now – HVAC and electrical

We continue to build our network in our core businesses, HVAC and electrical. At the same time, we are expanding even further into specialist areas with strong growth potential, such as fire safety, security and automation.

This year we also entered a new service area, industrial maintenance and mechanical services, through the acquisition of Speweld Service. We are excited to explore further opportunities within this field.

We have kept a strong pace in M&A, expanding into new geographical areas while strengthening our presence in existing regions through new disciplines and capabilities. This year, we have acquired companies with a combined revenue of €70 million, and we have a strong pipeline of acquisitions and asset deals.

On 1 October we launched our first greenfield company, PrimeTec, together with experienced industry professional Markus Hämäläinen. This adds a new way for us to drive organic growth alongside acquisitions and growth within our existing companies. I look forward to seeing how we can build on this model in the years ahead.

Demand is getting broader and more technical

The Finnish data center market is booming, driving demand for an increasingly broad and advanced range of technical expertise. According to Statistics Finland, €0.5 billion in data centre investments were realised in 2025, with €5 billion in projects planned or already underway, €7 billion in projects with investment decisions and €14 billion in potential investments by 2035. Together, this points to a market that could grow to nearly 30 times its 2025 level.

At the same time, Finland has an aging building stock. Housing companies and commercial property owners need renovations, energy-efficiency improvements and upgrades to their technical systems.

These trends reinforce something we see every day: customers increasingly need reliable partners with broad technical expertise and strong local capabilities that they can trust with critical production processes and infrastructure. This creates exciting opportunities for our Nimlas companies.

Why entrepreneurs choose Nimlas Finland

We have established a strong position in the Finnish market. Among customers, Nimlas companies are known for their quality and expertise.

Our model has also become increasingly attractive to entrepreneurs and managing directors looking for a partner for growth. In several cases, we have been the only potential partner they wanted to talk to because we genuinely preserve local leadership and local brands.

By combining strong local companies with the resources and expertise of the wider Nimlas network, we can serve customers locally while taking on larger and more complex projects together.

The local perspective is just as important in M&A. Our managing directors know their markets, customers and competitors better than anyone. They often help identify companies and entrepreneurs who would be a good fit for Nimlas: like-minded entrepreneurs and teams who want to continue building great companies as part of a larger network. M&A is ultimately a people business.

Our target is to exceed €800 million in 2031. That means doubling our size, while sticking to a model that works.

Getting out of the office

A key part of my leadership is staying close to our local companies and their managing directors, especially as the network continues to grow.

Together with our CFO, Regional Directors and Business Controllers, I visit each company (more than 57 companies right now) in person twice a year. In addition, we meet with each company twice a year on Teams.

It means a lot of time on the road, but there is real value in being present and meeting people face to face. These meetings are about much more than reviewing figures. They help us understand how the company and its people are doing, what is happening in the local market and where we can provide additional support. We also identify opportunities to collaborate across the group, support one another in tenders and share expertise where it creates value.

Our role is to help our local companies become even stronger businesses while respecting their local leadership, entrepreneurship and way of operating.

As Nimlas grows, maintaining this direct dialogue becomes even more important.

So, we will keep our boots on the ground.
